Is eating less and exercising more really the best way to lose weight? 🤔 It’s ok that you think that. It’s what the gurus have been telling us for years. “It’s all about calories in, calories out.” This theory assumes that your calories in and calories out are independent of each other. But that’s not true. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐯𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐬. When you eat less, you burn less. When you burn more, you eat more. You’ve likely experienced this increase in appetite after a hard workout. Or a decline in your energy levels when you’re eating fewer calories…making good workouts hard to come by. If you’ve fallen in the “eat less, move more” trap we’re willing to bet you’ve been plateaued for 3 months or more with your weight loss. Your body has something called a set point weight. It’s the 5-10 pound range you can’t seem to get below, no matter how hard you diet and exercise. This set weight isn’t controlled by calories. It’s controlled by insulin. A low calorie diet that doesn’t keep insulin low won’t work, at least not long-term. 𝐄𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐮.
