These past two weeks, honestly this whole month, has been an uphill battle. I’ve been showing up for myself to the best of my ability & yet I’ve been feeling so stuck. It’s wild. But I know this is just part of the journey. There will be stalls along the way. Everyone’s body responds differently, and this is simply how mine is reacting right now, and that’s okay. The best things in life usually take time to grow before they can truly blossom. I wanted to open up about some of the harder, less talked-about parts of being on GLP-1 medication. It took me a little while to feel ready to share this, especially while I’ve been dealing with so much frustration, but I know it’s important. There are so many misconceptions out there that GLP-1s are a quick fix, like there’s no effort involved, and that couldn’t be further from the truth. That myth is one of the main reasons I felt called to share my journey in real time. I want to bring a new kind of visibility to what it’s actually like taking GLP-1s. Just because you’re on this medication doesn’t mean it’s all sunshine and smooth sailing. This is not the “easy way out.” There is no easy way out when it comes to building a healthier life. Whether your path includes a simple calorie deficit, GLP-1s, or bariatric surgery—you still have to put in the work in a way that fits your life. Taking GLP-1s is like putting premium gas in your car. It helps it run better, sure, but if the tires are flat, the engine’s off, or you never actually drive it, that gas won’t get you anywhere. Real, lasting progress takes all the parts working together. No matter what’s thrown my way, I’m going to keep my head up.
